Kiosk – Large capacity -80oC biobanking system

The Kiosk -80^oC automated biobanking system is a huge capacity freezer that is a fully automated whole room solution for bulk sample storage. The Kiosk is custom built to match each individual clients’ capacity requirements. Sample capacity can range between 260,000 and 3.5 million samples.

Although each unit is customised, some design features are common to all Kiosk installations such as:

• There are 2 internal chambers,  a main storage zone and a smaller reception/sample sorting zone both maintained at -80^oC
• Uniform -80^oC temperature throughout both zones (no hot or cold spots/thawing or vitrification risks)
• Pick lists can be assembled and held in the operating area awaiting retrieval or large sample numbers can be presented together and then sorted in the operating zone
• High efficiency: up to 6,000 samples can be retrieved daily via one I/O (ATM) module
• Superior engineering, refrigeration, redundancy and backups are designed in to these units
• Dehumidification upon sample entry
• Energy efficiency gains in the region of >60% over conventional -80^oC freezers
• Space Savings >50%
